Joseph G. Baltz, Jr., MD, was born in Memphis and raised in Pocahontas, Arkansas. He received his undergraduate education at Duke University, where he graduated with distinction with a BS in Biomedical Engineering. He earned his medical degree and completed internal medicine residency training at the University of Virginia School of Medicine.
Dr. Baltz completed his gastroenterology fellowship at the Medical University of South Carolina, where he also received advanced training in Endoscopic Ultrasound, ablation (radiofrequency ablation and cryoablation) of Barrett’s Esophagus, and Endoscopic Mucosal Resection.
He is a member of the American Gastroenterological Association and the American College of Gastroenterology. When not at work, he and his wife enjoy spending time with their sons on the soccer pitch. In addition, Dr. Baltz enjoys camping and being involved with his local Boy Scout troop, watching sports (especially the Memphis Grizzlies), and doing activities with his church.
